Storybook characters came to life at Redhill Junior School last week as part of a Roald Dahl Day.
Youngsters at the Castleford school came dressed as their favourite characters from the author’s books on Thursday.
The Stansfield Drive school also held a Macmillan Coffee morning on the same day and raised £118 for the charity.
Andrea Lund, school business manager, said: “The Roald Dahl day was just all about getting the children engaged in reading because a lot of parents don’t have a lot of time to read with their kids.
“We’re just wanting to make reading more fun because it’s such an important skill.”
