Students help to spruce up woodland

Castleford Academy students are working to spruce up a patch of woodland close to their school.

Steve Brondel, who runs Wilderness Adventures, a company encouraging youngsters to develop skills outdoors, is helping pupils with the project.

He said: “We hope to transform the neglected land into a lovely tranquil natural habitat for the wildlife and students.

“I’m sure we will be able to create a fantastic woodland.”

Mr Brondel hopes to get the youngsters’ work recognised by the John Muir Trust, a conservation charity which protects and enhances wild places.
