Sunny weather helped Methley Scarecrow Festival go with a swing, as hundreds flocked to the village at the weekend.
More than 60 colourful scarecrows, all in the theme of adverts, went on display in gardens across the village, to raise money for Methley and Mickletown in Bloom’s annual floral displays.
June Panton, chairman of the in Bloom committee, said: “It was a wonderful weekend, there were loads of people about and we had a really good weekend.
“We had 66 entries into the festival and residents didn’t let us down, they were really imaginative – we had dancing pandas, a giant Yorkshire teapot, loads of really good ones.”
Votes were still being counted to name the winner of the festival, but Cadbury’s Smash aliens were leading in the nominations.
