A suspected conman has been arrested for allegedly swindling pensioners out of cash.

Police arrested a 45-year-old man from Barnsley after reports of an elderly woman letting a man into her home.

The man allegedly went the victim’s home on Charles Street, Eastmoor, on October 10 and asked her for a drink.

After the woman let him into her property, he allegedly stole money from her.

Police said the majority of victims were pensioners and a “substantial amount” of cash had been stolen.
