Team Tagons Touch Rugby League Team backed up winning the Featherstone Foundation Summer League for the second year in succession by becoming Play Touch Rugby League Coast to Coast Championship Trophy winners in a competition held at Featherstone Rovers’ Big Fellas Stadium.
Having been pipped to second place by Manchester Marras on try difference after the first round of matches and a place in the Super Cup Final against eventual winners Yorkshire Thorns, Team Tagons’ spirited team display proved too strong for Catterick and Coast to Coast Champions from round one North Derbyshire Chargers to pick up the Championship Trophy – their third trophy in two years.
Martin Armstrong was once again in fine form, inspiring the team to five victories out of seven on the day to pick up the player of the tournament award.
The Tagons will now look forward to the third and final round of the Coast to Coast tournament at Blackpool in September.
Team captain for the event Danny Kelleher would like to thank all his players for their dedication and hard work that proved pivotal to being crowned champions and to say a big thank you to team sponsors Buttys Sandwich Shop, of Featherstone, for their continued support of the team.
