STAFF and pupils at Castleford’s Oyster Park Primary School set social networking site Facebook “alight” after parents who attended the school talent show posted messages of praise for the event.
Melanie Swift, school business manager, said: “It was amazing. We were packed to the rafters and the evening after the event Facebook was alight. We had two emails from parents saying Facebook was buzzing with all the positive comments about the talent show.”
The school’s efforts raised £765 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, chosen by sisters, Amber Butcher and Kaitleyn Kerr, whose cousin, Megan Tonks, died this year after suffering from cystic fibrosis.
Headteacher Mandy Reather, Sarah Joy and Sandra Keighley organised the event which showcased a variety of acts, including the dinner ladies’ rendition of Beyonce’s Single Ladies, and a teachers’ tribute to the Spice Girls.
Year five pupil Bailey Dawson, ten, won the competition with his version of Michael Jackson’s You Are Not Alone.
