CASTLEFORD youngster Kirsty Brook is calling for local folk to vote for her to be crowned Miss Teen Princess UK after strutting her way into the first heat of the national beauty pageant.
The 13-year-old, of Broadmead, bagged herself a place in the Teen Princess UK’s first heat – along with 49 other hopefuls – after being judged on a professional photo shoot in London last month.
After two weeks, the two contestants who receive the highest number of text votes in the heat will secure a spot in the finals in September.
The Castleford Academy pupil – who was scouted for the competition at the Clothes Show in Birmingham – said: “I have always wanted to do modelling, ever since I started looking at the pictures of models in magazines when I was younger.
“In this competition I think it will give me good experience in putting an image across to the public and building my confidence.
“When I was at the photo shoot in London they told me they thought I worked well in front of the camera and that I could go far in the modelling world.
“I’m still interested in my school work because I want to keep my options open and I really enjoy, dance, drama and music lessons.
“I’m really determined to get to the final and can’t believe the amount of support I’ve received.
“Shops in Castleford have said they will put my posters up and Castleford Tigers said they would give me a mention over the tannoy at the game on the weekend.”
The winner of the final competition will receive, among a long list of prizes, fashion vouchers, beauty products and interviews for modelling agencies.
