Teenager threatened at knife-point during attempted robbery

Police said the boy was walking along Church Avenue, close to the Langthwaite Industrial Estate, at around 7.30pm on Tuesday when he was threatened by a man with a long-bladed knife.

When the boy told the attacker he didn’t have any cash on him, the man then patted him down before telling him to carry on walking.

Det Con Andrew Hicks, of Wakefield CID, said: “The victim has been left understandably shaken by the incident and it’s important that we identify this man as soon as possible.

“It’s not acceptable for anyone, let alone a young boy, to be threatened or intimidated in this way and I would ask people to look at the e-fit image and contact police if they have any suspicions about who it may be.”

The suspect is described as a white male around 5ft 7ins tall and aged in his 20s with a medium build. He had a pale complexion and had very dark coloured black hair that fell low across his forehead, just above his eyebrows, and was swept across his face.

He was also said to have a pointed nose, a goatee beard and wore a dark coloured tracksuit with white stripes down the legs. He was also thought to have worn unusual red coloured shoes.
