Teenagers ride their way to national dressage finals

Three teenage horse riders are jumping for joy after winning the NSEA (National Schools Equestrian Association) Dressage County Championship Qualifiers.

Charlie Wells, Leah Casey and Alex Askin, who form the Ossett Academy Equestrian Team, will now be able to compete in the National Finals in Leighton Buzzard in April.

At the qualifiers earlier this month, Charlie, 15, got the team off to a good start on Blue Vincent with a score of 72.4 per cent, which she beat by 0.1 per cent when she returned to the ring on Luscious Lily. Leah, 16, on Kendall, scored 71 per cent and Alex, 15, sealed the victory on Cosmic II with 72.4 per cent. Charlie and Alex also came first and third respectively in the novice class, meaning Charlie will also compete in the finals as an individual rider.
