Thieves steal four vans in under a week

Four vans were stolen from delivery drivers and tradespeople in less than a week. The crimes involved a thief climbing in to an unlocked van, with keys inside.

The first took place on November 25 in Elmsall Way, South Elmsall, at around 3.10pm. A delivery man confronted a man who he had seen get into his van.

On November 30, around noon, a delivery driver in Saxon Mount, South Kirkby also saw a man get into his van. He jumped into the back as the thief drove away. The vehicle was abandoned in Brierley. A 26-year-old man from Stainforth was arrested and bailed in relation to the offence.

On December 1, a man carrying out work on a property in Mayors Walk, Pontefract, was pushed aside by a thief who drove off with his van at around 11.50am. A 25-year-old man from Thorne was arrested and bailed.

The latest offence took place on December 2 when a driver was emptying a load at Wakefield Road, Kinsley, at about 10.30am. The thief drove off with his van, which was later recovered near South Elmsall.
