Thieves have been pinching post boxes from across the Five Towns.
Royal Mail said thefts of the red receptacles are “relatively rare”, but confirmed four have been stolen in the area over the last four months.
The postal service company said one box was stolen in Ackton Lane, Featherstone, on September 24, while another in Wortley Place, Hemsworth, was taken on June 19.
In Knottingley, a spate of thefts has seen a box removed at Valley Road on September 25th. A further two boxes were removed on at Halloween – one at Doncaster Road and the other at the junction of Windsor Drive and Pontefract Road.
A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a number of postboxes in the West Yorkshire area were stolen recently.
“We have some 115,000 post boxes around the country and thankfully thefts like these are relatively rare. We urge anyone with any information to contact the police apologise to any customers who have been inconvenienced by these thefts.”
Until they are replaced, customers are advised to use other postboxes in the area or drop their mail off at a Post Office.
Anyone who has concerns about their mail should contact the customer services team on 08457 740 740.
