Thousands expected at farm festival

A pie eating competition will be the main attraction at the annual Festival at the Farm event in Purston this weekend.

The event takes place at Farmer Copley’s on Pontefract Road on Sunday.

The free event runs from 11am to 4pm and also features a large craft tent, a food tent, vintage tractors, dance performances as well as displays the UK Bunny Jumping Team.

Around 4,500 people attended last year’s event and the long arm of the law triumphed when PC Matt Grayson was crowned king of the pie eaters.

PC Grayson, of Normanton and Featherstone neighbourhood policing team, chomped his way to the top in the pie eating contest in the culmination of events .
