Castleford Tigers have received a £10,000 boost after a supporters group clubbed together to raise funds for the club.
Tigers Together, the club’s charitable arm, presented the money to Tigers CEO Steve Gill at the club’s game with Salford City Reds earlier this month.
The supports group hold regular charity events including car boot sales to raise funds for the club.
Steve Gill, Tigers CEO, said: “We are incredibly grateful for their continued support, contribution and for their extremely generous donation.
“We are working behind the scenes to take the club forward. To have such backing from organisations, like Tigers Together, along with volunteers and fan support, we will hopefully be able to get back to where we belong which is competing with the very best in rugby league.”
Kevin Lloyd, chairman of Tigers Together, thanked everyone who had donated to the group.
He said: “We are keen to support the new regime at the club and have been impressed with the progress achieved so far.
“It is very encouraging that for the first time the club is in a position to spend the full salary cap and see the introduction of the community project.”
Tigers Together’s next event is a car-boot sale this Sunday.
The event will be held at the Wish Communication Stadium from 6am until noon.
