CASTLEFORD Tigers star Jake Emmett cut the ribbon to open Pontefract’s Prince of Wales Hospice’s latest shop.
Jake officially opened the new store, at The Circle, Chequerfield, last month – the 14th hospice shop across the Five Towns.
He said: “The hospice is a fantastic cause and I’m delighted the club is supporting it. It’s a privilege to open this shop and hopefully it will help towards generating much-needed funds.”
The aim for all hospice shops is to be a focal part of the community and raise money so the hospice can continue to deliver care to patients.
Candice Finney, the Chequerfield shop manager, added: “So far it has been a really fun environment. We are after volunteers though. It is a good time working here and great experience. Working for a local charity, you know money raised goes to local people.”
The shop is open six days a week and is run with the help of volunteers. Anyone able to offer a few hours in the shop should call in with their CV, training is offered, so previous experience isn’t required.
