Timetables are changing - check your bus service this weekend

Bus passengers are being reminded that some West Yorkshire bus services are changing from Sunday February 20.

In Wakefield, extended service 410 and new service 411 replace services 135, 136 & 138. Monday to Saturday daytime, services 148 and 149 run every 20 minutes, with service 150 withdrawn and replaced by new service 476 between Pontefract and Selby only.

In Halifax, services 577, 578 and 579 will no longer serve Rooley Heights in Sowerby, while Huddersfield services 370 and 371 will run between Westgate and Lindley only. Sunday journeys on service 358 will now be run by Yorkshire Tiger.

Services 281, 282 & 283 between Bradford / Fieldhead Estate and Dewsbury are revised so that there will be a bus every 12 minutes between Thornhill and Dewsbury Bus Station.

Also in North Kirklees, new service 214 will operate hourly Monday to Friday off-peak, between Birstall Retail Park, Morley and the White Rose Centre. Service 213 will run between Batley and Dewsbury only, while new service 54 will run between Batley and Morley, continuing to Leeds via Holbeck and the route of service 55.

New service ML2 replaces withdrawn services ML9 and ML10 between Shaw Cross, Dewsbury and Dewsbury Moor.

Evening journeys on service 252 and evening and Sunday journeys on service 252 will be run by Ladies Only Travel. Sunday evening journeys on service 229 will now be run by First.

Leeds CityBus is withdrawn and replaced by revised service 5 between Leeds Bus Station, Leeds Rail Station and the existing route to Albion Street. It will then return to Leeds Bus via Park Row and Boar Lane. The service will run every 10 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime, every 30 minutes on Sundays to a revised route via Calverley Street.

The fare for a complete circuit is £1 for adults, but free to holders of MCard, MetroCard, MetroDay, Day Rover, English National Concessionary passes or operator-own tickets.

In Bradford, the FreeCityBus becomes Bradford CityBus. It will still run every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday on the same route but there will be a £1 per journey adult fare. MCard, MetroCard, Metro Day, DayRovers and English National Concessionary passes will be accepted free of change. Holders of 16-18 PhotoCard, Young Person’s MCard and operator-own tickets will need to pay 50p.

The section of service 5 between Leeds and Old Farnley will be replaced by new service 15 running every 30 minutes, daily.

Some journeys on service 670 will extend from Greengates to Bradford, while service X11 is also extended from Pudsey to Bradford via the route of service 611.

Other services have revised timetables or small route changes, and passengers are advised to check www.wymetro.com/changes to see if their service is affected.

This weekend’s changes are one of six agreed with West Yorkshire’s bus operators for 2016. The next will be in mid-May.
