Castleford Air Cadets were right on target when they won a regional shooting competition.
Members of the squadron fought off competition from across Yorkshire to win the Wakefield Trophy Short Range Full Bore Competition.
It was the first time in 20 years that the Castleford youngsters had won the award.
Flt Lt Vicky Williamson, commanding officer, said: “The group’s big push for this year has been target shooting and – as is always the case – my staff team and the cadets have not just achieved this but surpassed that target.
“Winning the Wakefield trophy is a great recognition of this.”
Castleford youngsters beat 33 other squadrons from across the county to be crowned the champions.
The group was also part of a number of air cadets from across the country who got the chance to see two Lancaster bombers in action at RAF Coningsby earlier this year.
