There’s a sweet treat in store for liquorice lovers when Wakefield Council’s annual festival returns to Pontefract.
The authority’s 18th Liquorice Festival takes place on July 14 and promises to turn the town centre into a sweet haven.
The fun starts on the 13th with a free family event at Pontefract Castle organised by Pontefract Heritage Group. Families can bring a picnic and enjoy Viking re-enactments, crafts and activities between 11am until 4pm.
In the evening there will be classical music from West Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra followed by fireworks. Tickets available from the castle and Pontefract Museum.
