Traffic at a standstill on the A1 due to crash
One of two lanes is closed on the A1 because of an accident this morning, causing huge tailbacks.
The northbound carriageway is at a standstill because of the crash east of Ackworth, near to the B6474 Great North Road which was first reported just after 8am.
Emergency services are at the scene.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the route if possible.
