Delays to Wakefield trains as 'safety inspection' carried out on tracks

Northern said that trains between Wakefield Kirkgate and Barnsley were running at a reduced speed while a safety inspection is carried out on track near Darton.

Trains through Wakefield Kirkgate could be delayed by up to 10 minutes.

In a statement, Northern said: "Services from Leeds towards Sheffield/Lincoln/Nottingham may be delayed by approximately 10 minutes due to a safety inspection of the track near Darton.

"Trains will run at a reduced speed through the affected area. Network Rail staff are en route to investigate and rectify the issue.
