Major structural concrete repairs are required on a bridge in Sandal bridge under Standbridge Lane, over Owler Beck, close to the junction with Asdale Road.
The work had previously been scheduled to begin in March, but were delayed as part of government restrictions during the coronavirus crisis.

Hide AdBut Wakefield Council said they are now ready to begin the work, which is expected to continue for around eight weeks.
Coun Matthew Morley, Wakefield Council’s Cabinet Member for Planning and Highways, said: “It is important that we maintain our highways so that they remain safe and fit for purpose.
"The traffic restrictions are required to ensure repairs underneath are carried out safely and we advise motorists to take alternative routes wherever possible.
“We understand that these works can cause inconvenience but we ask people to please bear with us whilst we carry out the essential bridge repairs.”

Hide AdWork will begin on Standbridge Lane, over Owler Beck, on Monday, June 15.
A spokesperson for Wakefield Council said: "Although the restrictions may cause some inconvenience, it is necessary to ensure the safety of the public and those undertaking the works.
"Each year the Council maintains thousands of kilometres of roads, bus lanes, footways, cycle ways, tracks and bridleways and more than 200 bridges."
