Gaza protest in Wakefield tomorrow

A peaceful protest against the Isreali military offensive in Gaza will be held in Wakefield tomorrow (Saturday).

Communtiy and faith groups have organised a show of support for the Palestinian people from noon outside Wakefield Cathedral.

There will be speeches and food stalls, face painting and henna tatooing to raise cash for the victims at the Stand up for Gaza protest, organised to raise awareness of a humanitarian crisis facing the Palestinians.

More than 1,400 Palestinians have died and almost 7,000 have been wounded since Isreal launched its offensive on July 8.

Fifty-six Israeli soldiers have been killed the fighting and more than 400 wounded. Three civilians have been killed by Palestinian shelling in Israel.

Hundreds of people attended a protest in Dewsbury on July 20 against the conflict.
