Seven miles of traffic on A1 at Pontefract after collision on carriageway
Motorists in Pontefract are being warned of long delays this morning, after a collision on the A1.
Highways England said that traffic had been temporarily stopped on the northbound carriageway between junction 39 (Barnsdale Bar) and junction 40 (Darrington) following a collision.
Queues of more than seven miles have built up, with traffic back to junction 32A, where the A1 meets the M62 at Ferrybridge.

Hide AdTraffic Officers and South Yorkshire Police attended the scene and have been able to move all involved vehicles to the hard shoulder.
Traffic has since been released, but long queues remain.
Drivers are wanted to expect delays of up to 45 minutes.
