Strong winds causing delays on motorways

A speed limit of 50-miles-per-hour has been put in place on stretches of the motorway near Huddersfield.

Drivers of high sided lorries have been warned to take extra care.

The Met Office has predicted that winds will ease this evening and into tomorrow.

On the M1 motorway an earlier accident on the northbound carriageway between junction 34 at Meadowhall and junction 35 at Thorpe Hesley, has caused queues and tailbacks.
