Teenager treated for head injury after collision on Pontefract road

West Yorkshire Police confirmed they were called at 4.40pm on Monday, May 25 to reports of a road traffic collision on the A628 Barnsley Road in Ackworth.

A black vehicle, believed to be a Ford, had collided with a white vehicle, leaving a 13-year-old passenger with a head injury.

An ambulance crew were called, and assessed the teenager.

In a statement, the force said: "We were called at 16:40pm yesterday afternoon (25/05) to reports of a road traffic collision on Barnsley Road in Ackworth.

"A black vehicle (believe a Ford) was in collision with a white vehicle.

"A 13 year old female passenger received a head injury and was assessed by the ambulance crew."

The A628 is widely considered an accident blackspot, with more than 20 collisions reported between 2014 and 2019.

Last year, two people were killed in a head-on crash on the road.
