Woman, 77, dies after Featherstone house fire

Fire crews from Featherstone and Pontefract along with police and paramedics were called to a property on Nunn’s Close at around 6.50pm last night (Tuesday).

The woman was taken to Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield with serious burns but died of her injuries.

An 81-year-old man and another man were also injured in the blaze.

A police spokesman said an investigation had been launched into the cause of the fire but it is not thought to be suspicious.

Fire crews will be in the area today offering fire safety advice and reassurance.
