Tributes paid to former Knottingley councillor Pat Doyle

Tributes have been paid to former Knottingley councillor Pat Doyle who has died at the age of 61.

Mrs Doyle, who was also a member of the organising committee for the Knottingley and Ferrybridge Carnival, died on September 10.

Speaking at a full council meeting last week, Wakefield Council leader said: “Pat was not only a councillor on Wakefield Council, she was an active trade union member and a very active member of her community.

“We send our condolences to her family at this difficult time.”

Mrs Doyle also worked with Pontefract and Castleford MP Yvette Cooper for improvements in the town.

Coun Charlie Keith said: “I worked with Pat many times at Knottingley Carnival and I will never forget her.

“She worked a lot with me and she was a good councillor and she will be very sadly missed.”

Mrs Doyle leaves behind three children and nine grandchildren.
