All lanes have re-opened on the M62 eastbound following this morning’s serious accident.

The motorway was closed in both directions following the incident involving two HGVs, a van and a car, which happened at 5.20am.

Two lanes had opened westbound between J32 and J31, by lunchtime today, but all lanes remained closed eastbound between J30 and J31, until around 3.15pm this afternoon, while vehicles were recovered and a diesel spill cleared.

No one was seriously hurt in the smash according to police, but one person had to be cut free from a car by firefighters and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The road remains congested eastbound back to J29 at Lofthouse, and the exit slip road remains closed westbound while recovery work continues.
