A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “It would appear that a white Iveco flat-bed van has lost its load and a lorry has been involved in a collision as a result.

“The lorry driver was taken to Leeds General Infirmary when his injuries are not life-threatening. The road remains partly closed to allow for recovery of the vehicles and for the road to be cleared.”

All lanes have now reopened.

Fire crews from Gipton and Rothwell, along with the Technical Rescue Unit from Cleckheaton, were able to release the driver from the lorry.
