UPDATE: pensioner taken to hospital following accident in Wakefield city centre
Witnesses said the man, who is in his 80s, was out shopping with his wife when he was involved in a collision with a car on Union Street at about 1.30pm today (Wednesday).
They said he was left very shaken and upset. His wife was with him and she was distressed.

Hide AdEmergency services were called to the scene, which is close to Wakefield Market.
The road was partially closed while police and the ambulance service attended.
A police spokesman said afterwards that the victim was “conscious and breathing” and the incident involved an elderly man and a vehicle.
The road is now fully open.
