Update: Police chase driver who used city centre fountain as car wash

It shows the driver of the silver Vauxhall Insignia spinning round under the jets of the fountain in The Bullring in Wakefield.

But as he is trying to clean his car a police patrol pulls up and the driver tries to escape by heading off through the city centre and towards Wood Street.

The incident happened at around 8pm on Thursday.

Police are aware of the incident but have yet to comment.

Insp Ian Williams, Wakefield Police’s neighbourhood inspector, said: “The driver’s actions can only be described as anti-social and inconsiderate behaviour at best. I am pleased to say officers were on hand to deal with it on this occasion.

“The area is used by both elderly and young people throughout the day and this type of driving is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.”
