UPDATE: Wrenthorpe armed robbery - second man released on bail

The 21-year-old man was arrested in Folkestone, Kent, on Sunday.

And another 21-year-old man was arrested in Normanton on Saturday night in connection with the incident.

A police spokesman said both men have now been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Officers were called to the small convenience store on Wrenthorpe Lane at 9pm on Thursday, after a masked man threatened a shop assistant with what is believed to have been a shotgun and demanded money and cigarettes.

The suspect fled the store with the stolen money and cigarettes in a khaki coloured canvas holdall which had a triangular emblem on the side, possibly ‘Antler’.

He then made off in a vehicle that was driven by another man, believed to be a silver Vauxhall Tigra or Ford Puma, possibly with ‘Y38’ as part of the registration number.

DI Andy Welbourn, of Wakefield CID, said: “The suspect is described as a white male in his early 20s, about 5’ 6” tall and of slim build wearing a black jacket and black gloves that looked new.

“He wore a black ski mask and goggles with clear lenses and a black rim and is said to have thick dark eyelashes and smelled strongly of aftershave.”
