Vardis back home for live recording

Rock band Vardis will perform their first hometown gig in almost four decades next month.

The group, considered pioneers of the British heavy metal music scene, toured with rock legend Ozzy Osbourne in their heyday.

They split in the mid 1980s but reformed earlier this year with fans travelling from Mexico and the Far East to see them play.

The band will perform at Unity Works on Saturday December 13, from 4pm.

They will also record a follow-up to their debut album 100MPH, which featured a host of live tracks.

Unity Works assistant programmer Chris Morse said tickets were selling well and fans were excited to see the band’s return.

The gig will feature a number of bands handpicked by Vardis themselves including Toranaga and Sweet Exile.

Tickets costs £15 plus booking fees. Visit www.unityworks.co.uk/event/vardis.
