VIDEO: Bishop’s farewell blessing for the district

The new Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales came into existence at Easter.

It is the first new diocese in the Church of England since 1929, and includes the cities of Leeds, Bradford and Wakefield, as well as North Yorkshire towns such as Skipton, Harrogate and Settle.

It replaced the dioceses of Bradford, Ripon and Leeds, and the 125-year-old Wakefield one, and saw the city bid a fond farewell to its 12th Bishop, the Rt Rev Stephen Platten.

Before his retirement, he took time out to wish the district well in this short video.
