VIDEO: Detectives appeal for witnesses after attempted robbery in Ferrybridge

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery in Ferrybridge on Saturday.

Police said a man entered a bookmakers on Fishergate at around 8.30am on Saturday and pointed an object, which could have been a handgun, at a member of staff sat behind the counter screen and demanded money.

The member of staff refused and the suspect left the business empty handed.

Police have issued CCTV footage of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident and would like to speak to anyone who recognises the man pictured or who has any information.

The suspect has been described as a white man in his late 30s, stocky and about 5ft 6ins tall. He was wearing a brown jacket with a hood, blue jeans, dark coloured gloves and shoes.

He was also wearing a black scarf around his nose and mouth and was carrying a white plastic bag.

DC Andrew Hicks, of Wakefield CID, said: “We are conducting enquiries into this offence and would ask anyone who recognises the man pictured or who has information about the incident to contact us at Wakefield CID on 101.”
