Fire crews were spotted at the blaze at the former Stoneleigh Hotel on Doncaster Road, Wakefield, shortly after 9pm yesterday (Monday, February 22).

Pictures from the scene show crews tackling a blaze in the top floor of the hotel, which now serves as flats.

Permission was granted to convert the former Stoneleigh Hotel into 27 flats in July 2011.

Fire crews have since left the scene, and it is believed the fire has been extinguished.

Police remain on the scene at this time.
