Video: Mayor proves he has a head for heights during children’s hospice abseil

DOZENS of daring volunteers have braved an eight-storey abseil in aid of the Mayor of Kirklees’ charity appeal.

The mayor, Coun Eric Firth, was among those taking on the challenge at the University of Huddersfield yesterday.

He was joined by Reporter Series editor Hannah Ridgeway, photographer Jake Oakley and managing director Helen Oldham.

It is thought the event has raised as much as £20,000 for his chosen charity, the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

The charity supports children with life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses and their families from Kirklees, Wakefield and Calderdale.
