Committed volunteer Jean Green has celebrated clocking up 20 years service at a charity shop in Castleford.
Mrs Green, 80, used to work at Rowntree Mackintosh’s before retiring in May 1993 at the age of 60.
After retiring from her job, Mrs Green started volunteering for the charity just four months later.
Mrs Green said: “I have loved every minute of it.
“I have met some lovely people and made some really good friends during my time.”
Mrs Green first started working behind the counter but has even covered for store managers holidays.
She said: “I started just four months after retiring because I got bored and I just really enjoyed it.
“It’s company for me as well and it keeps me busy during the day.”
Laura Smith, store manager, thanked Mrs Green for her commitment and efforts over the past two decades.
She said: “Throughout the last 20 years Jean really has become the back bone of Age UK in Castleford.
“She is absolutely fantastic.
“Charities can’t run without volunteers and there aren’t many more committed than Jean.”
