A construction firm has taken home a prestigious award for its new residential development in Crofton.
The Wakefield District Housing (WDH) homebuilder team won a silver award for Hawthorn Court at the Considerate Constructor Awards in Manchester. The accolade was is a step up from the bronze award the team achieved for Nicholson Street, Castleford, in 2015.
Dave Hobbs, site manager for Hawthorn Court, said: “This is a great achievement for everyone involved. It was a massive team effort and everyone worked so hard to achieve this great result. It’s good to represent WDH as a constructor as well as a landlord on a national level.”
The team achieved the award for its work with schools and residents, including a Santa’s grotto, school site safety visits, a monthly newsletter and supporting nearby Macmillan coffee mornings.
Adam Green, WDH’s homebuilder manager, said: “It’s a truly special occasion to win a national award. The site was selected from thousands, and the fact that we were potentially in the top 10 per cent of considerate construction sites in the country is a huge accolade. We wouldn’t have received this fantastic result without the drive of the whole team on this project. It is also brilliant to see an improvement on our Bronze award from last year for our Nicholson Street development.”
