The Castleford councillor will take on the now-famous ice bucket challenge on the pitch at the Castleford Tigers’ match on Sunday.

The club will be running an auction before the game to raise as much money as possible for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

The challenge will take place at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle at around 3pm.

Coun Box said: “It’s a bit of fun which will raise money and awareness for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and its important work.

“I know people will want to get behind the idea and I’m sure we can bring in plenty of money for this fantastic charity.

“Without wanting to worry people, I will be following the convention and nominating others, so listen carefully to find out who I’ll be nominating after I’ve taken a soaking on the pitch.”

The ice bucket challenge started in America to raise funds for the ALS Association, the US version of the MND Association.
