A Glasshoughton pub is helping locals start their weekend right this Saturday by encouraging families to get together and enjoy a full English breakfast - and it's all free!

Tomorrow, Saturday April 21, Farmhouse Inns pub restaurant the Birchwood Farm on Colorado Way, is offering free breakfasts to people who visit the pub between 8am and 10.30am and say the code word, “Wakey Wakey” when ordering.

The giveaway follows research carried out by Farmhouse Inns which found that while 52 per cent of people believe breakfast to be the most important meal of the day, only 10 per cent enjoy it with their family on a daily basis.

The breakfast giveaway also falls on National Tea Day, so Birchwood Farm is helping people to celebrate with unlimted cups of the nation’s favourite drink.

Craig Fortune, Nicola Mitchell, general manager at the Birchwood Farm, said: “Breakfast is without a doubt, the most important meal of the day, and while we know modern lives can be busy, here at Birchwood Farm we want to encourage families to stop and get together to enjoy a hearty breakfast.

“We believe breakfast should be a meal to be celebrated – whatever the occasion! With bottomless tea, coffee and toast, our breakfast buffet is the perfect way to welcome the weekend - so we’re delighted to be giving it away for free this Saturday!”

The survey found that the perfect breakfast consists of eggs (91 per cent), toast (89 per cent), bacon (88 per cent), sausages (86 per cent) and hash browns (75 per cent). Guests can create their own complimentary breakfast, by visitng the Birchwood Farm on Saturday 21 April.

Ten free breakfasts will be available on a first-come, first-served basis to those who use the code word, ‘Wakey Wakey’, between 8am and 10.30am. Full terms and conditions can be found on the Farmhouse Inns Facebook page.
