The new self-service facility, which is the first of its kind in the district, is open 24 hours a day at Hope Town Post Office, on Castleford Road.

The coin-operated machine is ideal for washing heavy loads like duvets, throws, curtains and pillows, said its manufacturer Revolution, which has installed hundreds of the units in continental Europe.

The company said: “Not only is this machine available 24-seven but it is also very economic - £4 for an eight-kilogram wash, £8 for an 18-kilogram wash and only from £1 for a dry.

“This will be convenient for all customers visiting Hope Town Post Office as well as the local community who can benefit from this new outdoor and 24-hour professional washing facility.”
