The district’s main social housing providers has won two top industry awards.

Wakefield and District Housing (WDH) was named Large Social Landlord of the Year and Landlord of the Year at the prestigious UK Housing Awards.

WDH, which houses 60,000 people in the district, won the prizes after judges were impressed with the Health Inequality Case Worker scheme which has helped 1,500 people in some of the district’s most deprived areas.

Kevin Dodd, chief executive of WDH, said: “Winning these two awards is a magnificent achievement and show how innovative and committed we are to improving lives.”
