Local rockers Glass Caves are set to launch their second EP of the year with a gig for fans at The Loft in Castleford on Saturday.

The five-piece band from Pontefract launch EP Summer Lover at the Xscape venue on Saturday December 7. It follows their self-titled EP release in April, and spots on the BBC Introducing stage at Reading and Leeds Festivals in August.

Drummer Elliott Fletcher said: “We sell out venues in York and Leeds, but don’t get the chance to play here very often, and we’ve never done a big gig here apart from Crooked Ways, so we thought it would be nice for people who know us.

“We’re really looking forward to our friends and family coming to see us, near Christmas it should be a bit of a party atmosphere. The EP has received some decent national press and some good reviews, so we’re excited for everyone to hear it.”

Since appearing at Reading and Leeds, the band has been working on new material, and is hoping to put out its debut album in the new year, with a gig lined up at the New Bloods festival in London in January.

Elliott added: “It’s really exciting and good for us to get gigs across the country.”

Tickets for the gig cost £4 in advance or £5 on the door. The EP will be released on all digital platforms through Tri-Tone and PIAS UK, as well as copies on sale on the night.
