After today's heavy and persistent rain, tomorrow will be cook and showery with Wednesday drying out with lighter winds.

It will be bright for many on Thursday and it's Friday that we're set to see temperatures rise to as high as 28C with bright sunshine throughout the day.

The Met Office said, “Friday, sunny and very warm, perhaps hot, though with thundery showers possible later.”

Tonight:

Blustery winds continuing overnight, however most parts turning dry with clear spells possible, especially towards the coast. Perhaps the odd shower moving southeast across the Pennines. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Tuesday:

Mostly dry with sunny spells at first, but still breezy. Cloud thickening, with further isolated showers across the Pennines, becoming more widespread by the afternoon, although many parts remaining dry. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Largely fine with sunny spells Wednesday, and winds easing. Chilly overnight into Thursday, with early brighter spells followed by thickening cloud, but staying dry. Sunny and likely very warm Friday.
