Airedale computers began in 2002 to get six unemployed young people off benefits and into work which it did successfully, and kept the project running.
Urban Quarter is a male grooming parlour that was recognised in Wakefield Civic Society’s design awards and has also taken part in schemes to help the city’s homeless.

Hide AdOssett Beer Cart is the only the only beer cart festival in the world. Inspiration for the event was taken from the Lancashire rushcart tradition which involves villagers carrying rushes on a cart to their local church. The festival also raising funds for Wakefield Hospice.
“Do you really know what you are doing opening an art gallery and framing shop in a mining town?” This was the accountant’s question when the idea of setting up Pomfret Gallery was floated before opening in 1987.
And now in larger premises it is still a destination shop.
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at Cedar Court on June 15.
