Woman killed in head-on collision

A WOMAN from Allerton Bywater was killed and another is in a critical condition in hospital after a head-on collision between two cars in Leeds.

Helen Julia Gray, 39, died at the scene after the Ford Fiesta she was travelling in collided with a VW Golf on the A656 at Micklefield at 8.45pm on Tuesday April 5.

Another woman from Allerton Bywater, who has not yet been named, is fighting for her life. Four other people were injured and all had to be cut free from the wreckage.

A 40-year-old man from London, who was driving the VW Golf, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The driver of the Fiesta, a 49-year-old man, and another female passenger, 18, were also taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Golf and a 15-year-old male passenger were taken to hospital with injuries not considered to be life threatening.
