Work to start on £65k upgrade to gas mains

Northern Gas Networks will replace around 280m of metal gas mains in South Elmsall.

Work will start on Little Lane at the junction of Mellwood Lane on Monday.

Two and three way traffic lights will be installed while the work is carried out.

The engineers will then replace gas main at the junction of Barnsley Road.

The project will take five weeks to complete.

Northern Gas Networks construction services area manager Warren Iveson said: “We have been working closely with the local council to carefully plan these works and will be doing all we can to minimise disruption.

“We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience and thank members of the public for their patience whilst we carry out this essential work.”
