Pontefract will celebrate Yorkshire Day today with a host of displays and activities in the town centre.
Pubs and shops are joining in the fun as games for children take over the town centre and Valley Gardens, along with a craft and food market, heritage walks and displays, including members of Pontefract British Legion dressed up as soldiers during the Battle of Minden in the 18th century.
There will also be video games, a Diggerland rid, a dog show, music from local bands throughout the afternoon, a penalty shoot-out from 11am and a flat cap throwing contest.
Activities in the Valley Gardens include crafts, tree trail and games.
Shops will be dressing up and pubs serving free soft drinks to children.
The event runs from 11am to 3pm.
