Yorkshire Day fun in Pontefract
A craft and food market, heritage walks and family activities will be held in the town centre around St Giles’ Church and the Buttercross on Saturday.
There will also be a birds of prey display, donkey rides, flat cap throwing, welly wanging and a bouncy castle in Friarwood Valley Gardens.

Hide AdThe event has been organised by Wakefield Council and West Yorkshire Police.
Coun Les Shaw, cabinet member for culture, leisure and sport, said: “There are plenty of fun activities to keep the family entertained and the whole town is involved with events happening in the town centre, Pontefract Museum, Pontefract Library and Friarwood Valley Gardens.”
People will also get the chance to see the restoration works being carried out at Pontefract Castle with guided tours being held throughout the day.
Youngsters will also be able to take a seat in a police car or fire engine which will be on display in the town centre.

Hide AdAlan Studd, of Pontefract and Knottingley neighbourhood police team, said: “This is only our third year, but we are already the biggest Yorkshire Day event in the county.
“We would encourage everyone to come along to the event for great family day out.”
