Sewage pouring from a drain has been causing a stink for people on a street in Knottingley.
Yorkshire Water is trying to fix a blocked sewer which has been causing the leak on Garsdale Walk, Warwick Estate, since Sunday.
Justin Witney, who lives on the street, said the water company had cleaned up a foot deep of sewage in his garden.
But he feared it would flood again unless the leak is fixed.
Mr Witney, 35, said: “It’s pretty awful and in this heat it’s not pleasant. We haven’t been able to get out to our garden shed, where our freezer is, for about 24 hours.”
A Yorkshire Water spokesman said: “We are investigating this incident and have a team currently on site attempting to clear the blocked sewer that is causing sewage to escape out of the drain.
“We apologise for the problems this has caused and aim to have it fixed as soon as possible.”
